Today, I'm sharing a tasty twist on a classic! I took this mouthwatering meatball recipe from New World and added a sprinkle of Avohaven BBQ salt for that extra smoky, BBQ flavor. It's a simple addition that really elevates the dish. Check out the original recipe from New World here https://www.newworld.co.nz/recipes/beef/cheesy-baked-meatballs. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
500g beef mince
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon (heaped) of Avohaven BBQ salt
(this is where we deviate from the original recipe)
3 garlic cloves, minced
420g can of your favourite pasta sauce
3/4 cup of grated mozzarella
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 190 degrees fan bake. In a bowl mix together the beef mince, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, the BBQ Salt and garlic. Cover and set aside for 15mins.
Unsing wet hands, roll the mince mixture into 12-16 balls. Using a large frying pan with a dash of oil (avocado oil preferably), brown the meatballs for a few minutes until the sides are golden. Transfer the browned meatballs to your oven proof dish and then pour over your can of pasta sauce over the top. Add water to approximately half the can to collect any remaining pasta sauce and add to the meatballs. Stir to ensure that the meatballs are covered in pasta sauce. Sprinkle over the grated cheese, then bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until the sauce is bubbling and the meatballs have cooked through.
Leave to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
